How to Make a Twin Arm Spinnerbait
I recently sent this twin arm spinnerbait video to Arcasting, it's given me some really neat ideas to maybe modify my custom musky spinnerbait into a twin arm, maybe even do a trible or even quadruple arm spinnerbait. I've always been fascinated with making my own fishing lures and even modifying fishing lures... It's similar to how I was always got bored with the standard setup of all the sports cars I've owned over the years such as Camaro, Trans Am and even my Mustang Cobra. I always modifed the cars with an aftermarket exhaust, added some type of custom wheels or even aftermarket head lights or hood scoop to give the exterior some sort of extra appeal.
As a Michigan native Tim Allen always said, NEVER KEEP'EM STOCK! Bottom line, it's boring! You really want to get most of your car or fishing lure you're using, right? And both the fishing lure and sports car tends to be weak with the stock parts right? Why not modify them or make your own fishing lure to make them stronger!!!
The Suissex Shad Spin Blade is a great example. I don't plan to wait around for this French fishing company to fix the defect on their swimbait. I emailed them numerous times, even have posted a few articles on this forum and even some photos up on Instagram, haven't heard back... I will be fixing the product by taking another lure and modifying it to my own liking!
For instance the Chaos Posseidon swimbait, which is 10 inches long! A lot beefier and bigger than the Spin Shad Blade! I plan to slice it open, cut off the tail, and run a more heavy duty through-wire construction with a much more resilient double barrel sleeve, attach a huge gold Hildebrandt willow leaf in the rear, and wallah, I have a bullet proof bladed swimbait that isn't going to to break within 3-4 strikes of a big musky.
A lot of these fishing companies think on the lines of mass manufacturing now and not quality control, this is not something you want to risk losing a record size fish on especially if you musky fish. Sure I use cheaper and smaller lures at times like the Strike King 8.0, but I think you should take caution when using some of these cheaper fishing lures, even for bass. I love chatterbaits, believe it or not the Rage blade has a major defect with the snap, where your line or snap swivel attaches to the lure. I have lost numerous chatterbaits due to this defect, when you cast the Rage Blade somehow the snap unhooks itself when flying through the air.
Anyways, I'm getting a little carried away and off track what I'm getting at here. I plan on doing a lot of my own lure making, lure modifying, and customization on my YouTube channel to help improve the defective fishing tackle, give you guys some new ideas for making fishing lures of your own, and even give away some of these custom fishing lures I make on my channel.
I was blown away how easy it was to make a twin arm spinnerbait like this in this video, I thought it was pretty darn neat. I'm sure I can already buy some spinnerbait setups like this on ebay and elsewhere, but what would be the fun in that? What's nice about lure making is you can customize it your liking, choose whichever gauge wire you want to use, and in the long run it will be cheaper making it yourself. I've bent plenty of wire and made numerous lures of my own in the past, so I'm sure making a twin arm spinnerbait will be no problem.
In the past, I've tried my best looking for already setup jig spinner wire form with a snap like on the Beetle Spin, where you can change out the different size jig heads, I looked for like a whole month, but in the .051 or .062 sizes is practically impossible, nothing came up. It's just not practical to have interchange spinnerbait wire in that musky size either, so basically I had to buy a Hagens wire former and just form my own wire myself. I just ordered up three different sizes of the German Knipex round nose pliers that everyone rants and raves about on Muskie.Outdoorsfirst.com and TackleUnderground.com, I bought the 2201160 for musky lures, and 3741125 for bass lures and 3531115 for panfish lures, so I'm kind of excited. This German tool company is know for it's strength and preciseness, while other tool companies round nose tips will bend and not lineup, Knipex pliers don't do that and are the best in their class. The Hagens will only take you so far with wire bending, sometimes you need round nose pliers like the Knipex to make very intricate loops to attach ball bearing swivels or other small terminal tackle to your spinnerbait or inline spinner.
Anyways, I hope you decide to subscribe to my youtube channel Eternal Angler on YouTube, I'll be doing a lot different videos this year, rather than just simple fishing expeditions, the underwater drone and this fishing forum is just a small tease to what's to come. I plan on doing something no one else has in the fishing world and also communicate with my subscribers if any of you have questions for me...
